Visibility: pollution effects from air

If you notice a dark, thick heavy cloud like blanket resting on the earth’s surface, rest assured it is not fog. It is dense smoke which is a result of air pollution. This pollution effects the environment slowly and when it reaches large proportions it threatens to destroy the balance of nature.

Global warming

You hear about it everywhere – from the newspapers to advertisements on the television. Fact is, global warming is one of the biggest pollution effects till date. The last 9 years are 9 out of the total 25 hottest years as per records. Since 1970, the number and frequency of hurricanes and storms has risen by 100% - an alarming statistic indeed. The level of the sea has risen by 10 to 20 centimeters in the last couple of 100 years. It is estimated that by the year 2050 as much as 37% of animal and plant specimens can be erased due to global warming pollution effects. Drastic effects to the structure of our planet are resulting in strange occurrences in the environment.

Health side effects

Most asthma attacks occur because of disturbances in the air – which is one of the main pollution effects due to air contamination. In the US since 1980, asthma attacks have increased by over 70%. Places with high levels of ozone in the atmosphere are more likely to trigger asthma attacks in children. Contaminants such as cat saliva, dust mites as well as mold and dander is likely to cause more than 200,000 emergencies in asthma each year.
